Selecting the Right
Facility
When selecting the right facility for you loved one there are 4 key
areas that need to be met:
- Services Provided.
You want to make sure that you select a facility that can meet the needs
of your loved one. For example, if your loved one needs assistance with
remembering their medication you want a facility that offers medication
management.
- Location.
You want to make sure when you select a facility that it is within your
desired location. For example, if you live in Anaheim it would be more
beneficial to both you and your loved one to place them within the city
that you live so that you can visit with each other more often, or in
case of an emergency.
- Availability.
You want to make sure that the facility you choose has the appropriate
room or bed available. For example, if you choose a facility that only
has a semi-private room available and your loved one requires a private
room it could cause a problem.
- Cost.
You want to get the most care for your money, but you also do not want
to be unrealistic. For example, if you can only afford to pay $1000.00
per month it would not be realistic to chose a facility that costs over
that amount.
While you are at a facility, make sure you review the items listed
on our checklist.
